A Tribute to the Spirit of Hawkwind

Performing classic tracks from Hawkwind’s  golden age, THE QUARKNESS is a new venture for some very experienced musicians!

The band features a line-up of Karl Benson (from Half Man Half Biscuit) on guitar and vocals, Roddie Gilliard (from renowned Zappa interpreters the Muffin Men) on keys, synthesisers and vocals, Mandy Bruce (from pioneering all-girl punks Iconoclasts/indie rockers Slingbacks) on bass and vocals, and ‘Spekki’ Sarah Lucas (also from Iconoclasts) on drums.

Expect a set full of Hawkwind classics from the piledriving early ’70s blanga period through to the Robert Calvert-led ‘Quark’ years and beyond!

Visuals are always a major part of any Hawkwind show and with that in mind The Quarkness are working in tandem with Zenjen Lighting who have provided lights and projections for Space Ritual, Hawklords and many UK festivals, giving a suitably psychedelic lightshow alongside the astounding sounds!
