‘The Spotlight Effect' is the third studio album by Manchester-based band Strangefish. Following a long hiatus away from the scene, the band has returned with a new line-up and their first new collection of songs in almost 12 years. Having a harder and at times darker feel to its 2006 predecessor 'Fortune Telling', 'The Spotlight Effect' has the different aspects of the human condition as its overriding theme. It focuses on the media-driven world we find ourselves in today, where every move we make is analysed then picked to pieces. There's nothing sacred anymore; all things are considered fair game for an 'entertain-me' hungry audience.

Joining original founder members Steve Taylor on vocals, Paul O'Neill on keys, Bob on guitar, and Dave Whittaker on drums are additional vocalist Jo Whittaker, and Carl Howard on bass.

'Fortune Telling,' Strangefish's second album was released in Feb 2006. Dealing with the concepts of materialism, marketing, greed, trust and the search for what is important in life, it tells an 'everyman' story of someone who believes he has won a fortune, only to be happy to accept in the end that wellbeing matters far more. The album was critically acclaimed around the world and won a handful of awards, including Best Album at the Classic Rock Society, and Best Song for 'Ignorance Of Bliss.'

'Full Scale,' the band's debut album, was released in 2003.

Progressive rock flute player, singer/songwriter John brings his four piece band with Nick Fletcher, Jeremy Richardson and Duncan Parsons.

Since recording and touring with his brother Steve Hackett of Genesis, John has recorded three progressive rock albums on the Esoteric Antenna ( Cherry Red Records) label.

Performing songs from We Are Not Alone, Another Life, Checking Out of London and the latest duo album with Nick Fletcher Beyond the Stars, the band have built a reputation for rock-solid songs mixed with virtuosic guitar and flute performances.

" full of beautiful vocal melodies" Prog Visions
"an inventive, melodic, progressive rock band in the same general area as Caravan, Camel and even Focus" www.
"A furious, spirited full band encore is met with warm, rapturous applause" Prog Magazine.

Midlands prog rockers Encircled are now supporting their 3rd album release The Universal Mirth following the critical success of their Monkey Jamboree album.

The band compromising of popular Midlands singer Mark "Busby" Burrows on vocals and ex- Epilogue band members Scott Evans on Bass/Keyboards and Gareth Evans on lead guitar are now performing long overdue live dates playing material from all 3 albums. The latest album also features the unique talent of Pete Jones (Tiger Moth Tales) on keyboards and is sure to delight all prog rock fans.

This event has been arranged by us and loyal gig-supporter (Dave), as a salute to the great times shared with his late-wife Steph' rockin' away with friends at The Robin 2. She was at her happiest supporting bands and is fondly remembered by those who knew her, especially when the lights go down and the band starts to play! We hope you'll support this spectacular evening of live-music featuring some of her favourite talented bands and raise a glass to Steph': a fellow Robin 2 progrock-fan. Life's precious - enjoy it - keep rockin'!
